Welcome to the Hofstra University Master of Public Health (MPH) and Advance Certificate program!
Your timing could not be better to decide to begin or continue your education in field public health. We are professionals who contribute a unique perspective to health by focusing on disease prevention, health promotion and policy. Public health professionals also bring a wide range of skills that we actively engage in our work. We conduct research. We partner with communities. We communicate and educate. Our strength comes from our interdisciplinary design and turning data to action.
The faculty in the public health programs at Hofstra are focused on your success. During your time as students, you will partner with us to learn the core functions and competencies that are required for active participation as a public health practitioner. Throughout your courses, service learning, extracurricular activities and interprofessional exchanges you will learn about the meaning of public health. Our goal is to support you, challenge you, and prepare you for lifelong learning in public health. As faculty, we look forward to the day that we can call you our colleagues as we work towards improving the health of the populations locally, regionally and globally.

As the Director of Public Health Programs, I encourage you to get involved and explore opportunities to get involved in both public health practice and research. You can start today by talking to our esteemed full-time and part-time faculty. Engagement with the work of public health is the key to learning, and we take our community involvement seriously. This is the time to explore new areas of public health as it will build your skill set and confidence. I also suggest that you get involved with our work on-campus with our award-winning student organization, the Society of Public Health Advocates (SOPHA).
