National Public Health Week 2018 (March 28 - April 11, 2018) by Jacklyn T. Kuehn

A short description of NPHW:

In April 2018, Hofstra University celebrated National Public Health Week (NPHW) on campus, a month-long event series collaboratively presented by the School of Health Professions and Human Services and the Division of Student Affairs – with many more sponsors, partnering organizations, departments, offices, divisions and student group. The 2018 NPHW Signature Programming included a university-wide steps/fitness challenge; a charity 5K; our kick-off event exploring entrepreneurship and community health; public health fair; an interdisciplinary student film competition; a gun violence prevention exhibit; panel discussions on careers in public health and health care transformation; an audiology debate; and speaking events examining areas such as autism, the needs of transgender communities, U.S. immigrants, and failure. NPHW 2018, which included a calendar of more than 30 diverse events, was well-attended by Hofstra students, faculty and staff, as well as high school students and individuals from the local communities.
